Oscar Burciaga


Oscar Eduardo Burciaga has a B.F.A. in Mexican Folklore and Modern Dance from the Universidad de Colima, Mexico. He toured Mexico, Europe, and the United States extensively with the Ballet Folklorico de la Universidad de Colima for six years. He is a founding member and current teacher at the University of Colima’s Dance Workshop series and at the Las Cruces International Mariachi Conference.  He has been a soloist and dance captain for the San Diego Opera. Traviata (2004, 2010), Die Fledermause (2005), Don Quichotte (2014). Mr. Burciaga joined CBC in 2002 as a company member, and was promoted to Soloist in 2006. He has been featured in numerous roles with CBC including Pio Pico (Legend of Josefa), Mad Hatter (Alice in Wonderland), For Flora, the lead in Valse Triste, Bottom (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), ugly stepsister (Cinderella), Drosselmeyer (Nutcracker), and Von Rothbart (Swan Lake). Mr. Burciaga received the Dancer of the Year Award in 2006 and the Director’s Tribute in 2015. He is the Production Manager for CBC and is active in education and outreach programs.
