CALIFORNIA BALLET presents high-quality performances and education programs for the public community. California Ballet Company (CBC) is a nonprofit performing ballet company that has operated for 51 years. Under the new guidance of Artistic Director, Jared Nelson, and Executive Director, Michael Andrew Currey, CBC maintains the costumes, sets, professional dancers, and artistic and administrative staff required to present large-scale classical repertoire and contemporary works. CBC is the San Diego Civic Theatre’s resident ballet company and the only local ballet company to regularly perform in this venue with the San Diego Symphony.

WHO WE SERVE

CBC supports extensive and successful education and community enrichment programs. The programs provide live performing arts exposure to diverse schools, service organizations, and the military. We reach over 11,000 individuals in San Diego County on an annual basis. We believe that quality arts should be equal and accessible for all in our community and have made a commitment to focusing on serving underserved community members, such as: school children, families living on a limited income, active and veteran military, persons with physical and/or mental limitations, children and families battling life threatening diseases, seniors, and more.

APPROACH & IMPACT

As San Diego’s oldest dance company, we have long been committed to serving our community through our outreach and education programs. CBC strives to bring both innovative and contemporary choreographic pieces, as well as maintain the tradition of classical ballets, to the San Diego community. Our education programs occur in both schools and community centers and create opportunities for community members to attend theater performances. Through our partnerships with service organizations and schools, we regularly receive feedback to ensure that the content of our performances and educational programs are relevant and positively impacting participants’ lives. TESTIMONIALS

“Big thanks to the California Ballet and to Vet-Tix for the opportunity to attend such a great event. My family had a fantastic time. Again thank you so much for this. We have been struggling against being homeless lately and it was nice just to be able to get away and shift our focus even if it was just for a couple hours … We are so grateful. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”
