Oscar Burciaga has a BFA degree in Mexican Folklore and Modern Dance from the Universidad de Colima, He joined the California Ballet Company in 2002, and was promoted to Soloist in 2006. He has been featured in numerous roles with the company, including Spanish Serenade, Pio Pico in Legend of Josefa, the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland, For Flora, the lead in Valse Triste, the wolf in Sleeping Beauty, Gurney, lead Mazurka and Czardas in Coppelia, Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, ugly stepsister in Cinderella, Herr Drosselmeyer in The Nutcracker, and Dr. John Seward in Charles Bennett’s Dracula. He received the Dancer of the Year Award in 2006. Mr. Burciaga is the Production Manager for the CBC and is active in education and outreach programs. He is an instructor for the
