Jennifer Curry, an extremely versatile performer and consummate actress, has a diverse repertory which includes principal roles in Cinderella, Coppelia, Dracula, Romeo and Juliet, Carmen, Flower Festival pas de deux, Paquita, Giselle, Pas de Duke, and The Nutcracker. She has also danced the demanding roles of Aurora and the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, Hippolyta in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Josefa in Legend of Josefa, and the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland. She originated leading roles in Go the Distance and The Tale of Sara Kettington. In 2006, she gave a brilliant interpretation of the role of Juliet, earning her the title of Ballerina. A graduate of the California Ballet School, Ms. Curry was a member of Ballet El Paso in Texas from 1993-1998, where she performed a variety of leading roles. She rejoined CBC in the spring of 1998. She has also been a guest artist with San Diego Opera and Michigan Opera Theater, and was guest artist and choreographer for the summer festival VIVA! El Paso in Texas. As a choreographer, Ms Curry took first place in California Ballet Company’s first Choreographer’s Competition, with Over the Face of the Waters, which she originally choreographed for the 2007 Emerge program presented by the Jacobs Family Jewish Community Center. In addition to her ballet career, Ms. Curry is a stage actor, and performed with Shakespeare on the Rocks Theatre Company. Locally, she has performed the role of Estelle in Jean Paul Sartre’s play No Exit, and Elmire in Moliere’s Tartuffe. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from University of California at San Diego, is on the faculty of California Ballet School, and is a three-time Dancer of the Year recipient awarded by the California Ballet Association. Ms. Curry also works as a certified Pilates instructor at the Body Alchemist in Hillcrest.
