Hugo Carreon - Soloist

Hugo_CarreonHugo Carreon was with the California Ballet from 1991-1996 and rejoined as a soloist in 2002.  A native of Mexico City, he trained and performed with the Ballet Universitario do Queretaro and the National School of Dance, where he performed leading roles in both ballet and modern works.  He then received a full scholarship to Boston Ballet’s Summer Program.  Mr. Carreon holds a Masters Degree in International Business Administration and a BFA degree in Musical Theater from United States International University where he performed the role of Don in Chorus Line, and was a principal dancer with the International Festival Ballet.  Mr. Carreon has also performed with Eugene Ballet in Oregon and locally with the San Diego Opera, Stage 7, American Ballet Ensemble, City Ballet of San Diego, San Diego Ballet and San Diego Academy of Ballet.  His awards include a Tommy Award for Best Partner in San Diego and best Male Actor Award in a soap opera at USIU.  His California Ballet repertory includes A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Spanish Serenades, Romeo and Juliet, Serenade Encounters, the Prince, Arabian and Snow King in The Nutcracker, and the patient Renfield in Charles Bennett’s Dracula.  In 1995, he made his choreographic debut with California Ballet with his work, Romance, to music of Frederic Chopin.
